Evergrey
Evergrey is a progressive metal band from Gothenburg in Sweden.
Band History
After Englund and Nöjd had formed the band in late 1993 and recorded his first demos along with King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRoque, which was followed by a burst recording contract and a short spell of another singer, appeared in 1998 Noiseworks her debut album The Dark Discovery, on which also keyboardist Will Chandra is heard.
After Chandra soon after left the band, the band made four of further and was compared with Dream Theater and Tad Morose. Subsequently, various tours followed, among others with Kamelot and Crimson Glory by Germany.
Their 2001 release, In Search Of Truth, which was first published by the German record label InsideOut Music. With the new members Henrik Danhage, Michael Håkansson ( The Forsaken ) and Sven Karlsson ( Soilwork ) followed by the next European tour as support of Therion ( opener were My Insanity ). After another keyboardist change the former keyboardist of Andromeda was a brief stint on a headlining tour through France and Scandinavia, and was soon replaced by Rikard Zander.
2003 saw the album Recreation Day, to the for Blinded and I'm Sorry Music videos were filmed. In addition, the drums of Jonas Ekdahl was occupied and organized a U.S. tour with Arch Enemy.
After 2004 The Inner Circle appeared on the as well as on the other albums Englund's wife had sung a few lines, the band Iced Earth and Children of Bodom on a tour of North America was supported. The subsequently published the eponymous double-disc Double DVD A Night to Remember - Live 2004, it managed in 2005 to the top of the Swedish DVD charts.
Since 2004 Ekdahl, Zander and Danhage also operate the Death Metal trio Death Destruction as a project parallel to the strip activity.
The band changed in 2008 by InsideOut Music for record label SPV.
In May 2010, the band announced on their website that guitarist and drummer Jonas Ekdahl Henrik Danhage the band would leave in " mutual friendship ", in order to devote Death Destruction can. Then also Jari Kainulainen announced his departure for better earning potential. As a substitute Marcus Jidell ( Royal Hunt), Johan Niemann and Hannes Van Dahl were announced.
Style
Ever Grey's music is quite gloomy, the lyrics always darker Art The band ( Jonas Ekdahl ) describes itself as " Dark Melodic Power Metal ", but the band has significant thrash and progressive influences, which is why you can not clearly define the genre.
