Artis Pabriks

Artis Pabriks ( born March 22, 1966 in Jurmala ) is Latvian political scientist and politician, founding member of Tautas Partija ( People's Party ) and the Society for a different policy (SCP ) and former Latvian Minister of Defense.

Life

After studying at the University of Latvia in Riga and the University of Aarhus in Denmark it is 2004 Member of the Latvian Parliament since March. Between 1996 and 2004 he was principal of a newly established College Vidzeme in Valmiera. He is co-author of several historical and political science works. From 21 July 2004 to October 28, 2007 Pabriks served as Foreign Minister in the Cabinet Kalvītis. From November 3, 2010 to January 22, 2014, he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in the cabinets Dombrovskis II and III Dombrovskis.

He is married to a German woman and has three children.
