Arturo García Bustos

Arturo García Bustos ( born August 8, 1926 in Mexico City) is a Mexican artist.

Biography

From 1941 he studied at the Art Academy La Esmeralda. His teachers were Agustín Lazo, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and Feliciano Peña. In addition, he attended evening classes at the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( UNAM). Together with Guillermo Monroy and Arturo Estrada, he founded the Association Artistas Jóvenes Revolucionarios (boy revolutionary artists). In 1945, he joined the Taller de Grafica Popular at ( Workshop of the People graphic artist, TGP ). Together with Frida Kahlo and other artists of the artist group Los Fridos he painted the mural " Pulqueria Posada del Sol ". 1947, García Bustos first prize at the UNAM. From 1953 to 1954, García Bustos held on in Guatemala. In the following years, he traveled to Warsaw, Moscow and Korea. In 1959, he traveled to Cuba. In 1967 he left the Taller de Grafica Popular. García Bustos received numerous national and international awards. Since 1973 he is a member of the Academia de Artes.
