Arvigo

Arvigo is a municipality in the district of Calanca in the district Moesa the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

1980 its territory was increased by the the then independent municipality Landarenca.

Saint Lawrence is the patron of the parish of Arvigo, the stars are the differentiation of other coat of arms with the Holy Symbol.

Geography

Arvigo is in the lower part of the Calanca on a debris cone, the Bach Ria d' Arvigo has piled up. Of the total municipal area of ​​1701 ha 909 ha of woods and forests are covered 563 ha of unproductive area (mostly mountains), 203 ha of agricultural land (almost 90% of them Alpsässen ) and only 26 ha settlement area.

Arvigo is bordered to the west by the Canton of Ticino. The neighboring communities within the canton of Grisons are Braggio, Buseno, Cauco, San Vittore and Selma. Below the church gneiss is quarried in a large quarry.

Population

Of the 97 residents ( end of 2010) are 63 Swiss citizens and 34 immigrants. The reduction is sometimes due to the migration of young citizens who see their future career in a different region.

Arvigo is the capital of the Calanca also the seat of the district court. Mayor Rodolfo Keller ( 2009).
