As You Like It (English As You Like It) is a play by William Shakespeare.

The piece was brought on 4 August 1600 for printing, but its going to press at that time was apparently prevented. A note next to the entry reads: " ... to be staied ". It was the only one of four that day in the printer registers ( Stationers Register ) submitted pieces that remained permanently under the objection of custody and did not receive permission to print. For specific reasons have been mentioned. There is no quarto edition of this theater piece. Only 23 years later the work was first published in print in the first complete edition of Shakespeare ( Shakespeare Folio).

Action

Duke Frederick deposed his elder brother Duke Senior, who then in the forest of Arden goes into exile with a number of loyal Lords. Orlando has already been taken up by Duke Senior and writes for his long-lost love Rosalind poems he hangs on trees. Rosalind finds the poems, uses her disguise to interview Orlando about his true feelings for her, and declared as Ganymede, Orlando to cure his heartache when Orlando Ganymede as courting, as it were Rosalind, making Orlando agrees. Both fall in love but each other more and more. In the forest, take Touchstone and the goatherd Audrey to marry the decision. The young shepherd Silvius wooing the shepherdess Phoebe, but falls in love with Ganymede and the supposed man writing a love letter.

Idyll in the forest is threatened because Frederick Oliver sends out to find Orlando - so he hopes the two runaways Celia and Rosalind to get hold of. In the forest Oliver is almost killed, when the sleeper a snake slithering around his neck and then still appears a lioness, but rescued by the brave Orlando, who sells the animals; through this experience is Oliver a new man and the brothers are reconciled. Oliver and Celia fall in love and the wedding is to take place the next day. Orlando regrets that he can not marry his Rosalind, but Ganymede promises to make this possible by magic. At the wedding she pretends to be Rosalind to recognize Phoebe turns then to her admirer Silvius, and Touchstone and Audrey make their appearance. All four pairs of Hymen, the god of marriage, married and a great wedding feast begins.
