Aschwin Wildeboer Faber

Aschwin Wildeboer Faber ( born February 14, 1986 in Sabadell, Catalonia ) is a Spanish swimmer with Dutch roots.

Career

Wildeboers parents were both born in the Netherlands and grew, and in 1978 emigrated to Spain, where they have settled in Sabadell. There Aschwins father Paulus Wildeboer became coach of the local swimming clubs Club de Sabadell Natación.

Wildeboer took at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens in 2004 where he took part in the 29th place over 200 meters and in 35th place in the 100 meters back.

Two years later, at the European Swimming Championships in Budapest in 2006 he reached the final rank 14th on the 50 meters, 12 final ranking of the 100 meters and the 16th overall place on the 200 meter backstroke distance.

At the 2008 European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven he missed the podium only slightly and was about 100 meters and 200 meters backstroke distance fourth. About 50 meters Rückendsitanz he finished fifth overall place. But it was enough to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing to qualify the 100m backstroke. He finally was able to advance to the finals and occupy the seventh overall place.

Its up now successful title fights only followed half a year later, the short course 2008 European Championships in Rijeka. There, he won his first gold on the 200 meter backstroke and two silver medals on the 50 meter and 100 meter backstroke. Short term he could also put up on the 50m and 100m backstroke new European records there.

In the Mediterranean Games in 2009, he scored in the 4x100m medley relay as the starting swimmer set a new world record of 52.38 seconds in the 100 meters back. In the next world championships in Rome, he finished the 100m back behind the Japanese world champion Jun'ya Koga and the German Helge Meeuw third place.
