Aselin Debison

Aselin Debison (* June 27, 1990 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia ) is a Canadian pop and folk singer.

The daughter of a hairdresser and a landscape gardener, she was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Its name comes from Aslan, the lion in CS Lewis The Chronicles of Narnia. Your singing career began in 1999 when she was asked to sing at a demonstration by miners in her hometown. Soon after, she started on her Christmas album The Littlest Angel to work, which was published in 2001. In 2002 she was from Peter Gelb, president of Sony Classical, discovered at the East Coast Music Awards. Their debut album, Sweet is the Melody was released in the same year.

2003 Aselin was selected for Queen Elizabeth II at the Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, Ontario to sing. The Queen visited Canada for their anniversary celebration.

Aselin sang with Bruce Guthro during the CBC specials " Aselin Debison: Sweet is the Melody ". She showed a selection of pieces of their debut CD and also classic songs from Cape Breton Island. Among them was the island anthem. During the " Sweet Is The Melody " tour they also had appearances in New York and Tokyo.

Aselins cover of medleys Somewhere Over The Rainbow / What A Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwoole was very popular in Korea and Japan. Thanks to the integration into soft pop sampler such as crossover Romance by Sony Music Korea / Splash Music in 2003, the song was an important element of ambient music in many parts of East Asia. Various other pieces of Sweet Is The Melody were involved in Korean and Japanese sampler.

In March 2005, Aselin returned with her album Bigger Than Me. The Singles Life and Faze were very popular in Soft-Rock-/Pop-Radio. This time she wrote her songs with the help of Dave Thomson ( co-founder of teen pop band Wave) and Thomas Salter.
