Ashton-on - Ribble is a suburb of Preston in England, which was mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Ashton is now a constituency in Preston, but is not identical to the colloquial area which is called Ashton, because this is applied to the whole of the West of Preston.

Of particular importance in Ashton-on - Ribble is the area of Tulketh. In Tulketh Cistercian monks of the Abbey of Savigny founded a monastery in 1124. In 1127 they transferred this Tulketh Priory by Furness and founded the Furness Abbey. From the 14th century it is known that a mansion was at the point of Tulketh Priory that as Tulketh Hall was known.
