Aspyr

Aspyr Media is a U.S. company in Austin (Texas ), which specializes in porting Windows games on Macintosh systems and their distribution. The founding year was 1996.

For several years, the company is trying to expand its business areas and also distributes games for the PC ( Windows), the Pocket PC and consoles such as the Xbox or the Game Boy Advance. Also, video DVDs, and music CDs belong to these efforts.

When porting games to different platforms Aspyr usually takes the role of the distributor and cares to obtain the rights for a game. The actual porting work is outsourced to partner companies. These include Westlake Interactive and Beenox Studios. Together with Westlake Interactive they released their first great play on the Mac market: Tomb Raider II - Starring Lara Croft ( in the original Core Design). This was followed by Tomb Raider (computer game ) and all other games of the Tomb Raider series and many more of the most famous games in the PC and console platforms.
