Assaad Hardan

Assaad Halim Hardan (Arabic أسعد حردان, born July 31, 1951 in Rachaya Al Foukhar at Hasbaya ) is a Lebanese politician and, since July 2008 Chairman of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party.

The Greek Orthodox Christian joined the SSNP in 1968 and became Chairman of the Central Political Bureau, but he also played a role in the Lebanese civil war. He was elected to the National Assembly in the parliamentary elections in Lebanon in 1992 and was represented at the area reserved for Greek Orthodox seat of Marjeyoun - Hasbaya.

He was repeatedly appointed to the government. Between 1990 and 1992 he was under Omar Karami and Rachid Solh Minister of State without portfolio from 1995 to 1998 and from 2003 to 2004 Minister of Labour; he was succeeded after 2004 Assem Qanso.

His Alma Mater Hardan has libanaise at the University. He is married to Marlene Khnaisser and has three children - Fredrika, Fidaa and Halim.
