Asteris Koutoulas

Asteris Koutoulas, also in the transcription Kutulas (Greek Αστέρης Κούτουλας; born April 5, 1960 in Oradea ) is a Greek living in Germany event and music producer, publicist, translator, filmmaker and author.

Life

Koutoulas was born in 1960 in Romania, the son of Greek immigrants who moved to the GDR in 1968. He attended school in Dresden the Cross ( 1976-79 ) and studied from 1979 to 1984 German and History of Philosophy at the University of Leipzig.

He translated (as Asteris Kutulas ) and mostly in collaboration with Ina Kutulas numerous since 1981 works by important Greek authors into German, such as poetry, essays and prose of Odysseas Elytis, Nikos Engonopoulos, Dionissis Karatzas, Constantine Cavafy, Jannis Ritsos and Giorgos Seferis and also the autobiography and writings on music by Mikis Theodorakis. In most of the more than 40 stand-alone editions of books, he was also the publisher and usually Nachwortautor. In addition Koutoulas published a series of his own texts, interviews and translations of works by other authors in various German and Greek literary magazines and newspapers ( privateer (magazine), Accents ( magazine), meaning and form, Lettre International, new German literature, FAZ, märkische or newspaper, Frankfurter Rundschau, taz, Chronicles, Vima, Eleftherotypia, etc.). Koutoulas combined with Jannis Ritsos until his death in 1990, a deep friendship.

Koutoulas was from 1987 to 1989 in the GDR, the publication series Bizarre cities out of which many writers, painters and musicians involved, and from 1990 to 1991, the magazine Sondeur. In these publications he worked with a variety of artists together and moved their texts or visual artistic works, such as those of Peter Böthig, Volker Braun, Heinz Czechowski, Adolf Endler Jan factor, Claudia Gehrke, Annett Gröschner, Durs Grünbein, Matthias Baader Holst Horst Hussel, Johannes Jansen, Frank Lanzendörfer, Steffen Mensching, Bert Papenfuss - Gorek, AR Penck, Kathrin Schmidt, Peter Wawerzinek, Trak Wendish among others Koutoulas lived between 1992-1996 alternately in Athens and Egger village (near Berlin) and lives since 1997 in Prenzlauer Berg ( Berlin).

Since 1980 he collaborates with Theodorakis, for which he produced over twenty CDs and about 100 concerts worldwide organized (eg in Canada, Chile, Russia, Israel, South Africa, Turkey, Australia and most European countries). Since the late eighties contributing to the official website Theodorakis ( by Guy Wagner), for which he wrote a number of contributions. Koutoulas, published in 1998 in Greece, the Theodorakis plant Directory established as the standard work of Theodorakis research.

He looked further since the early 1980s as a co-writer and director on various documentary productions as well as a dramaturge for theater productions.

Since the early 1990s, he has worked as a music and event producer. As CEO of his company Asti Music he not only organized numerous productions of Greek artists ( Demis Roussos, Maria Farantouri, Dimitra Galani, Elli Paspala, Alkistis Protopsalti, George Dalaras, etc.) in Europe, but mediated or accompanied concerts by international stars such as Mercedes Sosa, Zülfü Livaneli, Sting, Thomas Anders, Milva, Kelly Family, etc.

Worked 1999-2010 world as a manager and producer of the director and lighting architect Gert Hof. Produced at this time about 40 mega events around the world, including the Millennium events in 2000 at the Victory Column in Berlin and at the Acropolis in Athens and the Millennium Events " 1000 years Hungary " in Budapest and for the Chinese government in Beijing to continue in 2004 for the European Union, the " Welcome Europe Event " on Malta, the " city Day" in 2003 for the city of Moscow on Red Square, 2003 Donald Trump the "Lights of Freedom Event " in Atlantic City, 2005, "Light from the Arab World " event for the Sultan of Oman, 2009, the opening of the European capital of Culture in Vilnius, 2010, the closing ceremony of the Israel Festival in Jerusalem, etc. in all these events Gert Hof directed and held the overall artistic direction. As a producer Koutoulas also collaborated with the composer of the music for these events, such as Mike Oldfield, Roger Waters, Scorpions, Klaus Schulze, Pericles Koukos, Ruslana, Westbam and others, and with the musicians involved in the events, as Gabi Delgado -Lopez, Buena Vista Social Club and elsewhere
