Åsunden (Västergötland)

Åsunden is a lake in Västergötland with an area of ​​33 square kilometers. The length from south to north is 22 km, and the width varies between one and two and a half kilometers. The maximum depth is 40 meters. The outlet of the lake is the river Ätran.

History

The lake is historically known for the Battle of Bogesund in 1520 between Sweden and Denmark on the ice of the lake. The city Ulricehamn lies at the northern end of the lake.

Shipping

Built of iron steamship Munter was built by Count Erik Sparre Torpa at Ulricehamn verkstad for passenger transport on the Åsunden 1879 at Lidköpings Mekaniska in Lidköping. The boat was sold in 1910 to Åsundens Trafikförening and brought to the Yngaren.
