Athanasios Miaoulis

Athanasios Miaoulis (Greek: Αθανάσιος Μιαούλης ) (* 1815 in Hydra, † June 7, 1867 in Paris) was a Greek politician and former Prime Minister.

The son of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis was a midshipman with his father and later graduated from the Military Academy of Munich. Later, he was a naval officer and was promoted to adjutant of King Otto I.. On October 11, 1855, he was appointed Minister of the Navy in the first cabinet of Dimitrios Voulgaris.

From 25 November 1857 to 7 June 1862, he finally was his successor as Prime Minister. From 1859 his government had no majority in the National Assembly ( Vouli ton Ellinon ). In the following years there was unrest on the part of students who received a very prominent and dynamic member of parliament with the future prime minister Epaminondas Deligiorgis. Soon after, there were also tangible clashes between opponents and supporters of the king. For this reason, during the reign of Miaoulis in the years 1861 to 1862 is known as the Ministry of the blood.

After the fall of the king, he went into exile in France.
