Atoms for Peace

Atoms for Peace is the title of a speech given by the U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower on December 8, 1953 before the UN General Assembly in New York City.

He presented in the context of this speech, his ideas of peaceful uses of nuclear energy. How should nuclear energy power generation, used in the form of, for example, electricity and heat as well as application areas such as health, combat disease vectors and nutrition. All this, as Eisenhower should be implemented so under the umbrella of an international Atomic Energy Agency, that a safe and peaceful use of radioactive material and related technology can be guaranteed. To this end, the International Atomic Energy Agency ( IAEA) was founded in Vienna on 29 July 1957.
