Atreyu (band)

Atreyu is a Founded in 1998, American metalcore band. Your name refers to one of the main characters in the novel The Neverending Story.

Band History

The singer Alex Varkatzas, drummer Brandon Saller and guitarist Dan Jacobs founded the band in Orange County, California under the name of "Retribution ". With Visions 1998, the band released the first demo under the band name " Atreyu ". Three years later, Chris Thomson replaced the former bassist Brian O'Donnell and Travis Miguel came in this period the band. In 2001, she released the EP Fractures In Facade Of Your Porcelain Beauty, drummer Brandon Saller on the for the first time also sang.

In 2002, Atreyu signed a contract with the label Victory Records, which released the debut album, Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses in June 2002. First America -wide tours followed and it also came to the first performances in Europe. As single releases of this album, the songs Is not Love Grand and Lip Gloss And Black were selected. In 2004, Atreyu played Ozzfest, published in February 2004 a limited edition of 25,000 pieces of Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses with DVD and finally the second album, The Curse was baptized in June. Bassist Chris Thomson still decided before the recordings to The Curse, to leave the band in friendship, because he care more about his family and also wanted to continue his education in the teaching profession. Chris was short of a longtime friend of the band, Marc McKnight replaced. Also in 2004, published the YA BABY! String Quartet String Quartet Tribute to Atreyu one.

Followed in 2005 by the Thick as Thieves Tour, which was also the first world tour, the band at the same time and led by countries such as Australia and Japan. After the site tour Atreyu played in June 2005 on the Warped Tour. On 23 March 2006 the album A Death -Grip on Yesterday appeared, even before the piece Her Portrait in Black was exclusively on the soundtrack to Underworld: Evolution published. In A Death -Grip on Yesterday for the first time also sang the bassist Marc McKnight. A few months later the band parted from her longtime label Victory Records and moved to Hollywood Records. In October 2006, her last video The Theft appears to bid farewell to Victory Records Victory Records.

On 28 August 2007, the band released their album Lead Sails Paper Anchor, with the first single, which has the selfsame name, as the following planned U.S. tour Becoming the Bull

On 23 October 2009 their new studio album Congregation of the Damned was released.

Since 2011, the band takes a break.

On 11 May 2013, the band asked their fans to to to share a post in Facebook if they want to hear a new song Atreyu. In a subsequent article, they stated that they want to provide free this song and it would be a song in the style of the album " The Curse".
