Attila Balázs

Attila Balázs ( born September 27, 1989 in Budapest) is a Hungarian tennis player.

Career

Balázs could achieve far more success in his young career. Both the single and in the double he already won several Futures tournaments. On the Challenger Tour he won a title yet each in singles and in doubles. In Palermo he continued in 2010 in the final against Martin Fischer in three sets by, while in Banja Luka, he won the doubles competition at the side of his coach Amir Hadad in 2008. The success in Palermo carried Balázs ranked 153 in the world rankings, which remained his highest ever placing. 2010 he also took part in the qualifications for the main fields of the French Open and U.S. Open, but did not progress beyond the first round. The following year he undertook at the French Open a renewed attempt to qualify for a grand slam. But this time he failed in the first qualifying round.

On the ATP World Tour in 2012 he succeeded in the tournament in Bucharest for the first time qualifying for the main draw. In the first round defeated Balázs, listed on rank 450 in the world rankings, the guided ranked 64 Slovaks Lukáš Lacko in straight sets. In the second round he met Potito Starace, number 76 in the world, and kept clearly in two sentences the upper hand. With the Belgian Xavier Malisse, he finally defeated even the first time a top 50 player when he defeated the quoted ranked 45th Malisse in the quarterfinals in three sets. Fabio Fognini counter but he remained in the semifinals and a chance difference with 3:6, 1:6 from the tournament.

Since 2009 Balázs plays for Hungarian Davis Cup team.
