Attila Dargay

Attila Dargay ( born June 20, 1927 in Mezőnyék, † October 20, 2009 in Budapest) was a Hungarian film director and comic book artist, who lived in Budapest.

Life

Dargay completed his studies at the Art Academy Magyar Képzőművészeti Főiskola ( MKF ) in 1948 and first worked at the National Theatre in Budapest as a theater painter. Already in the founding year of the animation department of the " Pannonia Filmstúdió " by Gyula Macskássy he was in 1951 in a small role as "trace artist " on the fifteen- minute animated film "A Kiskakas gyémántfélkrajcárja " with. In 1957, he was director for film animation in Budapest " Pannonia Film Studios ". For his films, he has received national and international awards.

His cartoons were mainly directed to an audience of children, but also appealed to adults, so he produced a movie about Matyi, the geese Matthias, the " Robin Hood" of Hungary, after the first 1815 book by Mihály Fazekas. Based on the characters films his movie characters were reused in illustrated children's books and also common in the GDR. There also appeared a rhymed story " Little Man - You go ahead " by Manfred Streubel and Dargay in the GDR children's magazine Frösi.

He last worked in 1995 on the screenplay for " Bobo and the Hasenbande " with.
