Attwenger

Attwenger is an Upper Austrian two-man band, which is attributed to the new folk music.

History

In 1989, the band was in Linz " Stadtwerkstatt " founded Urfahraner breakthrough, the only traditional folk music in the cast played two violins, Styrian accordion, guitar and bass fiddle. After only two years, the group split due to different musical conceptions in two follow-up groups: the Urfahraner Aufgeiger and Attwenger. The name comes from a Attwenger Gstanzl that was played in the Upper Austrian regional radio.

Attwenger are Markus Binder ( drums, vocals, mouth harp ) and Hans -Peter Falkner ( Styrian accordion, vocals).

Throughout its development, the band has developed various adaptations of traditional vernacular music that combined with exclusively written in vernacular texts. Initially particularly strong bonds were made ​​on the punk ( Feedback and uptempo to plow ), hip-hop ( "black" rhythms, accordion as Loopelement on air) and Drum and Bass ( Trance endless numbers with mäanderndem, repetitive song to song ) to the typical Attwenger sound emerged as a unique appropriation Central European folklore. 2013 appeared CLUBS (Live CD and DVD road movies ). According to their own description of Attwenger A virtual Attwenger concert with live samples from the years 2001 -, 2012. Guest musicians worked with Fred Frith, Shelley Hirsch, Harri Stojka and Sigi Maron.

On 26 October 2013, the 700th live performance by Attwenger the Rocket Club, Landshut took place.
