Auchtermuchty

Auchtermuchty ( Gaelic schott Uachdar Mucadaidh, originally Uachdarmuc of Gaelic Uachdar - muic ) is a town in the Scottish unitary authority Fife. It is located about 11 kilometers north- west of Glenrothes and 18 km south-east of Stirling. By Auchtermuchty leads the A91. In 2001, Auchtermuchty had 2010 inhabitants.

Under King James V Auchtermuchty was appointed Royal Burgh. In the 18th and 19th centuries were in Auchtermuchty textile or wood- processing companies. Between 1829 and 1926, Auchtermuchty was the site of the nationally significant whiskey distillery Auchtermuchty.
