Audi Cup

The Audi Cup is a since 2009 every two quadrennial two-day football tournament of Audi AG at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Mode

The Audi Cup is an invitational tournament that no World Cup or European Championship respectively in the summer break takes place in the years just before the start of the Bundesliga season and is organized by Audi AG. Fixed participants were previously respectively, the host Bayern Munich, holds shares in the Audi, and AC Milan, who since 2007 has a sponsorship agreement with Audi. There are also two other clubs: so far each from one European and one from a South American league.

The tournament is played in the classic knockout system. On the first day, the two semi-final matches will be played one after the other and the second day the game for 3rd place with the two losers of the semi-finals and the finals with the two winners also sequentially. The game lasts 90 minutes, it is then draw, immediately followed a penalty shootout. The winner receives a 60 cm high cup which was designed by Audi design and is made of aluminum.

Audi Cup 2009

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the shareholder Audi held this together with Bayern Munich on 29 and 30 July 2009 for the first time an international football tournament. The four participants in addition to the host Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Boca Juniors and Manchester United. The draw for the semi-finals took place on 3 March 2009 at the Geneva Motor Show. The semi-finals were sequentially discharged on 29 July, on the following day, the third-place match and the final took place. The final was won by Bayern Munich after a goalless draw in a penalty shoot-out against Manchester United with 7-6.

For Thomas Müller, the tournament was the breakthrough at Bayern Munich. With two hits, he was top scorer of the tournament.

The tournament followed more than 130,000 visitors in the stadium. ZDF will broadcast live the semi-final between Bayern Munich and AC Milan in the final.

The Audi Cup was awarded with the International Sponsoring Award in the sports category by the Association sponsoring FASPO.

Audi Cup 2011

On 26 and 27 July 2011, the second edition of the tournament, which was held once again at the Allianz Arena followed. In addition to the FC Bayern Munich and AC Milan, FC Barcelona vs SC Internacional Porto Alegre this year were doing. The draw for the semi-finals took place via online voting by the fans. The winner was the FC Barcelona with a 2-0 final win against Bayern Munich. Goalscorer with three goals was Thiago Alcantara from FC Barcelona.

The Allianz Arena was sold out with each 66,000 spectators. ZDF will broadcast live the semi-finals against Milan and Bayern in the final. With 5.8 and over 6 million viewers, it was the programs with the highest audience of the day. The games were broadcast in 180 countries.

Audi Cup 2013

In 2013, on 31 July and 1 August, the Audi Cup Arena took place in the Alliance. Participants in addition to hosts Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Manchester City, and Sao Paulo. The games were broadcast live according to the organizers in over 200 countries and territories, in Germany, the games were shown on RTL and n-tv.

The winner was the FC Bayern Munich, who won 2-1 in the final against Manchester City. Most successful goal scorers of the tournament were Mario Mandzukic, Edin Džeko and Stephan El Shaarawy, who scored two goals.

Franz Beckenbauer Cup

Following the example of Torneig Gamper, a decades organized by FC Barcelona in August each tournament to the FC Bayern Munich was invited in 2006, was started in 2007 in Munich Franz Beckenbauer Cup. Audi Football Summit

Also sponsored by Audi, but not to be confused with the Audi Cup, are the so-called Audi Football Summit. 2012 found two of these " football summit " took place.

10 January 2012 playing the FC Bayern Munich in New Delhi in India against the Indian national team. From winter training camp in Doha, Qatar, Bayern traveled to India shortly. A crowd of about 42,000 in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Munich won clearly 4-0 with goals from Mario Gomez ( 14 ), Thomas Mueller ( 29th, 37th ) and Bastian Schweinsteiger ( 43 ).

During the summer break no Audi Cup and Franz Beckenbauer Cup took place in 2012. Instead, Bayern played July 26, 2012 in Guangzhou, China against VfL Wolfsburg. The Guangdong Olympic Stadium watched about 35,000 spectators the 2-1 victory over the Bavarians the league rivals. The goals were scored by Mario Mandzukic ( 29 ), Arjen Robben ( 39 ) and Václav Pilař ( 90 ).
