Auguste of Anhalt-Dessau

Amalie Auguste of Anhalt- Dessau ( born August 18, 1793 in Dessau, † June 12, 1854 in Rudolstadt ) from the house of Ascanians was a princess of Anhalt- Dessau and by marriage Princess of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt.

Life

Auguste was the eldest child of Crown Prince Frederick von Anhalt- Dessau (1769-1814) from his marriage to Christiana Amalie (1774-1846), daughter of the Landgrave Friedrich V of Hesse- Homburg.

She married on 15 April 1816 in Dessau Prince Friedrich Günther von Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt ( 1793-1867 ). The Princess described as gentle and amiable was popular among the people and regarded as patron of science and art. After her death, Friedrich Günther married the daughter of Auguste's brother George.

Auguste was buried in the royal crypt of the cemetery Rudolstadt.
