Prince George Bernhard of Anhalt-Dessau

Georg Bernhard of Anhalt- Dessau ( born February 21, 1796 in Dessau, † October 16, 1865 in Dresden) from the house of Ascanians was a prince of Anhalt- Dessau.

Life

George was the second son of Crown Prince Frederick von Anhalt- Dessau (1769-1814) from his marriage to Christiana Amalie (1774-1846), daughter of the Landgrave Friedrich V of Hesse- Homburg.

George was built at the Kavalierstrasse in Dessau named after him Palais, which the prince rushed through its cost of 45,000 thalers in deep debt. The building was renamed in 1900 in Palais Reina and later housed the Anhalt Art Gallery. The palace was completely destroyed during the Second World War.

Marriages and descendants

Georg married on August 6, 1825 in Rudolstadt Caroline ( 1804-1829 ), daughter of Prince Karl Günter von Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt, with whom he had the following children:

  • Luise (1826-1900)
  • Friedrich ( * / † 1828)

After the death of his first wife he married on 4 October 1831 in Dresden with Therese Emma ( 1807-1848 ), daughter of Richard Julius Bernhard von Erdmannsdorff, which was in 1831 raised to the " Countess of Reina ". The children of this marriage bore the title of countess or count of Reina:
