Auguste Veillon

Louis -Auguste Veillon ( born December 29, 1834 in Bex, † January 5, 1890 in Geneva) was a Swiss painter.

Life

After a degree in Reformed theology in Lausanne, he entered the studio of François Diday in Geneva, where he painted seascapes with mountains and views of the Bernese Oberland. In 1858 he studied at the École des Beaux -Arts in Paris, where she learned Orientalists Eugène Fromentin know. He visited Rome, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Egypt, then spent two years in Venice and finally settled down in Geneva. Here he turned to Orientalist themes and painted mostly landscapes of the Nile or the Dead Sea.
