Augustinians FC

The Augustians Bathurst (also: Augustinians ) was a football club based in Bathurst, the capital (renamed in 1973 to Banjul ) of the former British West African colony of Gambia.

History

The club played in the highest league in Gambian football and was the founding of the League in 1940 with it. They were in the 1950s and 1960s nesonders successful, the championship was won four times. [Note 1] At last we won in the season 1986/1987 the championship of the First Division.

In the 1995 season they were still playing in the GFA League First Division. They finished the season with a 9th place and alighted at the GFA League Second Division. The following season, the rise of managed again, but could remain only one season in the First Division and rose again in the Second Division. In the 1998/1999 season they finished 9th place, woauf they had to descend into the GFA League Third Division.

In the finale of the first cup competition, which was held on July 5 at the Box Bar Stadium, subject to the Augustians against the Gambia United with 1:2. In the 1960s, won the cup competition twice.

For CAF Champions League 1967 and CAF Champions League 1968 Augustians were each invited, attracted the participation in this contest before the game of the preliminary round back.

When the club was dissolved, is not occupied.
