Augusto Algueró

Augusto Algueró ( born February 23, 1934 in Barcelona, † 16 January 2011 Torremolinos) was a Spanish composer, arranger and musical director.

Biography

Algueró received a musical education at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona, ​​he studied medicine at the same time. His musical career began in the age of sixteen in 1950. From 1961 to 1974 he was married to actress Carmen Sevilla, with whom he had a son, Augusto J. Algueró, also a composer. In 1986 he married a second time, Natividad Benito. He died in Torremolinos on 16 January 2011 at sleeping on a cardiac arrest.

Work

Throughout his career Algueró wrote many songs that were popular. Titles such as Penelope, with the voice and text by Joan Manuel Serrat and the Arrangement of Ricard Miralles, was one of the key songs in the repertoire of Catalan singer. Te quiero, te quiero and Noeli, interpreted by the Valencian Nino Bravo; Estando contigo and Tómbola, for the singer and actress Pepa Flores (called " Marisol "); Acompañame for Rocío Dúrcal, also an actress and singer; or La chica ye -ye, which he composed for Concha Velasco, are already gone down in history of Spanish music and their time were great successes.

As a composer and arranger Augusto Algueró was represented at festivals such as the Festival OTI and the Euro Vision Song Contest. In this latter won the written of him song Estando contigo, which represented Spain in 1961 for the first time at this event, interpreted by Conchita Bautista, a ninth, 1972, the song Amanece in which Algueró worked with Ramón Arcusa, by the artist Jaime Morey tenth.
