The Alder is a river in France, in the region of Brittany. It rises in the town of Lohuec, in the department of Cotes -d'Armor and ends after 144 kilometers in the Bay of Brest in the Atlantic.
Shipping
The river is navigable from its mouth to Pont- Triffen with ships. Between Port -Launay and Pont- Triffen is the channeled Alder part of the Canal de Nantes à Brest. The Alder has a 18 km long estuary and is strongly influenced in the field below Port -Launay on the tides. It is also called Alder -Maritime this section.
