Port-Launay

Port -Launay ( Breton Meilh -ar -Wern ) is a commune in the Finistère department 432 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). It belongs to the district Châteaulin, for Canton Châteaulin and community association Pays de Châteaulin et Porzay.

Geography

The municipality is located in the west of Brittany at the eastern end of the estuary of the River Alder, which opens into the Rade de Brest, deep in the land projecting bay of the Atlantic. Port -Launay is the last natural harbor on the Alder; From here the river is channeled as part of the Canal de Nantes à Brest. The seaport is one of the region Cornwall and lies in the nature reserve Parc naturel régional d' Armorica. Châteaulin is located 3 km south-west, Quimper 24 km south and 36 km north-west of Brest ( information easily calculated in a straight line ).

Infrastructure

The nearest exit on the highway-like -laned road E 60 (Nantes- Brest) and the next regional train station in the predominantly parallel railway line, there are at Châteaulin. In Brest is the regional airport Aéroport Brest Bretagne.
