Aurélien Barrau

Aurélien Barrau ( born May 19, 1973 in Neuilly -sur -Seine ) is a French astrophysicist.

Scientific career

Barrau studied physics at the University Joseph Fourier and the ENSPG - INPG of Grenoble and graduated in 1995 with a grade of " very good" as valedictorian from. From 1995 to 1998 his doctorate Barrau at the University Joseph Fourier in Monique Rivoal (collaboration with the Laboratoire de Physique Nucléaire et de Hautes Energies ( LPNHE ) in Paris) to gamma high-energy astrophysics and active galactic nuclei, where he the note très honorable avec les félicitations du jury received. Since 1998, Barrau works at the Laboratoire de Physique et de Subatomique Cosmologie ( LPSC ) in Grenoble and Maître de conférences at the University Joseph Fourier. In 2004 he habilitated about black holes in the early universe. For his work in the field of high-energy astrophysics and cosmology him the Bogolyubov Prize was awarded in December 2006, an award for young scientists in the field of theoretical physics. Since 2008, Barrau is an adjunct professor at the University Joseph Fourier. Aurélien Barrau 2009 was a guest lecturer at the prestigious Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques ( IHES ) and was appointed to the Institute Universitaire de France.

In his theoretical works, Aurélien Barrau primarily concerned with cosmology, black holes and loop quantum gravity. He is also involved in some experimental projects to study the cosmic radiation, such as the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS).

Others

Aurélien Barrau is a regular guest in popular science radio shows and holds several times a year lectures on astrophysical topics that are intended for a wider audience. In addition, Barrau supporters of the multiverse theory. As a teacher, Barrau attaches great importance to arouse the curiosity of his students for elementary questions and bring them early with current research in contact.

Aurélien Barrau is married and has two children. His Freizeitbeschäftgungen it counts poetry, music and philosophy ( Barrau has a university degree in philosophy).
