The University of Pierre and Marie Curie (French Université Pierre et Marie Curie, UPMC, Paris and 6) is a spin-off of the Faculty of Sciences of Paris. Founded in 1968 and known since 1971 under the current name, it managed to gain a global reputation in no time.

The UPMC located in the university complex Jussieu in the Latin Quarter, the building will be redeveloped due to asbestos-containing materials at the moment. Since the move of the University Denis Diderot ( Paris 7 ) in the 13th arrondissement their former buildings are fully utilized by the UPMC.

Today, UPMC has the largest scientific and medical complex in France.

The UPMC maintains a number of international collaborations, and a large part of the more than 30,000 students come from abroad.
