Sindika Dokolo

Sindika Dokolo ( born May 16, 1972 in Kinshasa, Zaire ) is a Congolese art collector and businessman. He is married to the Angolan president's daughter Isabel dos Santos.

Biography

Sindika Dikolo grew up in Belgium and France. His parents are originally from the Congo, self-made man, banker, millionaire and avid art collector Dokolo Augustine and his Danish wife Hanne Kruse. He graduated from the Lycée Saint -Louis -de- Gonzage in Paris and later studied economics, commerce and foreign languages ​​at the University Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris.

Encouraged by his father's initiative to Sindika Dokolo dedicated at the age of 15 years, the collection of African art. In 1995 he decided to return to the former Zaire to work on the widely ramified family business activities, which consisted of at least 17 ​​companies in different sectors (banking, animal husbandry, fisheries, coffee export, real estate, consumer goods, retail, transportation, printing, insurance, mining and vehicle trade ). But the country fell into disrepair and the stores were lost. The companies were also nationalized in 1986 still under President Mobutu Sese Seko. After the death of his father Sindika Dokolo took the leftover family interests in 2001.

Since 2003, he is married to the eldest daughter of the Angolan president, José Eduardo dos Santos.

Interest in art

Later he founded his foundation (Portuguese: Fundação Sindika Dokolo ) to promote African culture and art. The aim of the foundation is to create a center for contemporary art in Luanda, issued in which not only pieces of contemporary African art but also the conditions and activities are created which are necessary to integrate African artists in the international circles of the art world.

This was followed by cultural festivals in Luanda, in 2006 an exhibition of the Institute of Modern Art in Valencia. Business interests

Sindika Dokolo also exerts diverse business activities in Angola. He is a member of the board of the cement company Nova Cimangola. Sindika Dokolo is also a member of the board of Amorim Energia. About the Holding Esperanza, which is part of the Angolan oil company Sonangol and his wife Isabel dos Santos, she holds a third of the Portuguese oil and gas producer Galp Energia.
