Aurelio Galleppini

Aurelio Galleppini alias Galep ( born August 28, 1917 in Casal di Pari, Grosseto, Italy, † March 10, 1994 in Chiavari, Genoa, Italy Province ) was an Italian comic book artist. He gained particular notoriety by the comic Tex Willer.

Life and work

The self-taught Galleppini published his first comics in the mid-1930s. For the publishing house Mondadori created in collaboration with Federico Pedrocchi the comics Pino il Mozzo and Le Perle del Mar d' Oman. From 1940 he lived and worked Galleppini in Florence, where he worked for various magazines. After he was drafted in the meantime, Galleppini 1947 returned back into civilian life and settled in Milan. Along with the comic book writer Giovanni Luigi Bonelli, he created the comic series Tex Willer, which appeared in 1948. In addition Galleppini recorded in 1954 a comic adaptation of Gulliver's Travels and 1977 L' Uomo del Texas in the Un uomo un'avventura.
