Aurora is a settlement in Wise County, Texas, about 40 km northwest of Dallas. Known worldwide, the place was in 1973 because of the activities of ufologists, who claimed in 1897 was here a UFO crashed. However, subsequent studies indicate very likely point to a hoax.

The Aurora UFO Incident

Freelance journalist HE Haydon wrote on 17 April 1897 in the newspaper Dallas Morning News that yesterday morning a spaceship above the town of Aurora was found at 6 clock, had the obvious maneuvering difficulties.
