Ausci

The Auscer (Latin Ausci; Greek Αὔσχιοι ) were probably a Celtic tribe, whose residence was in the later Roman province of Gallia Aquitania on the river Adour. They were a respected and prosperous nation, which is mentioned in some ancient authors and inscriptions. The main town was called Eliumberrum, Eliberre or Climberrum, renamed in the middle Roman period in Augusta Auscorum, today also in the French department of Gers.
