Australian Pony

The Australian Pony is a children's riding pony, which is originally from Australia. The breeding is monitored by the " Australian Pony Stud Book Society ," founded in 1929 a breed association that has fixed the breeding goal in detail.

Exterior
The Australian Pony is related to the Welsh Mountain Pony closer than other pony breeds. It is compact, strong and well built, has a proper building with lots of quality and very good movements. It has a distinctive pony character and a strikingly beautiful, refined head with large eyes. Together with the original British Pony it is far larger than other specially bred ponies. The Height is between 120 cm and 140 cm.

It boasts its excellent temperament and attachment.
Breeding history
The Australian Pony is a mixture of several breeds and types that were imported by early European settlers. In 1803, was proven to be the first pony Import ( Timor- Pony) instead, but it was only in 1920, an independent type could develop, with strong share of the " Welsh Mountain Pony" with Shetland blood. But also " Hackney " as well as Arabs and thoroughbreds were responsible for the current breeding base.
