Automobile Craiova
The company S. C. Automobile Craiova SA, also known in short form ACSA, is a Romanian automobile manufacturer with headquarters in the city of Craiova.
The work is considered as a direct successor of Daewoo Automobile SA, which the work of the previous Oltcit SA had taken over. In September 2007, the Ford Motor Company bought with an investment in the amount of 60 million U.S. dollars for a share of 72.4 percent. On March 21, 2008, the purchase agreement in the amount of 57 million U.S. dollars was finally signed. Since May 2009 Ford even has a share of 95.63 percent in Automobile Craiova. With the takeover by Ford 3,900 workers were employed in the factory, in 2011 there were already about 7,000 employees.
After the takeover by Ford, the Ford Transit Connect in Craiova was mainly assembled, all parts of the vehicle were until summer 2010 production of the Ford Otosan A.Ş. Turkish related. Since then, the body parts, chassis and engines are manufactured entirely in Romania. On May 10, 2012 Ford opened a new engine plant in Craiova, where the Ford EcoBoost engine with three cylinders and 1.0 liter displacement is produced since then. From 2012 to 2015 are to be produced in this work a total of more than 800,000 units of the engine.
In June 2012, in Craiova, the production of the Ford B -MAX was launched, Ford plans to produce annually about 300,000 vehicles. The first close concept car was presented in March 2011 at the Salon international de l'automobile de Genève in the world public.
Construction of the new Ford Transit Connect, which should be also built according to original plans in Craiova will be held in Valencia in 2013. In Craiova Ford Transit Courier / ( Tourneo Courier) should instead be built.
