Autumn (George Winston album)

Autumn is the second studio album by the U.S. American pianist George Winston. It was published in 1980 in the New Age label Windham Hill. The unsprüngliche A- side of the LP was titled in September, the B-side with October. The music album is a prelude to a trilogy of autumn and winter motifs that Winston published between 1980 and 1982 at Windham Hill. This trilogy formed a foundation for the emerging music genre New Age.

Publication and chart success

The album reached only after the re-release in CD format in 1984, in 1986 the Billboard 200, was ranked 139 and stayed 25 weeks. For the album a platinum record when amerikanischern Phono Association Recording Industry Association of America was certified in December 1987.

Reception

In his review for Allmusic music database Reviewer William Ruhlmann awarded the maximum score and thinks Winston's Impressions of autumn ( as the German meaning of the album title ) are full of slow chords and sudden melodic runs.

The American rock band Brazil used the beginning of Sea as a template for the beginning of the song It Keeps the Machine Running on the album existence ( 2002).
