Avenida General Paz

The Avenida General Paz (official name Ruta Nacional A001 ) is a 32 km long expressway that leads around Buenos Aires. Followed is roughly the border between the capital and the province of Buenos Aires, is one of the few toll-free highways in Argentina. For the most part it has three lanes in each direction, between the Ruta Panamericana and the Río de la Plata is fünfspurig.

History

The Law No 2089 of 1887 defined the city limits of Buenos Aires. Article six fixed the construction of a road along the city limits. For a straight route for this country between the city and the province of Buenos Aires has been replaced.

The new road was named after José María Paz and designed by Pascual Palazzo. The construction was carried out by José María Zaballa Carbó. The Avenida General Paz was the first expressway in the country. First Avenue had four lanes, two in each direction. Work began on 8 June 1937, completed on 5 July 1941. In the 1970s the roundabout on Avenida del Libertador by a cloverleaf interchange has been replaced.

1996 Avenida has been modernized and extended it to three lanes in each direction.
