Avenir (typeface)

Avenir is the name of a font that was presented in 1988 by Adrian Frutiger for the first time to the public.

The name Avenir (French avenir "future" ) is a pun on the name of the font Futura (Latin futura "future" ). The idea is that inspired by the Futura Avenir a slightly more humane and more pleasing because not should be geometrically constructed Futura so complete.

History
