Axel Lindahl

Axel Lindahl (* 1841 in Mariestad, † 1906) was a Swedish photographer who lived from 1883 to 1889 in Norway and was known for his landscapes there.

Life

In 1865, he opened with his brother Udo own photo studio in Uddevalla. To 1867 he moved his business to Gothenburg. He developed a special interest in landscape photography, first on the west coast of Sweden, then in Norway. In 1883 he sold his shares to his Swedish photo studio and devoted himself exclusively commercially the Norwegian landscape. He worked closely with the publishing house of Richard Andvord.

He had beaten in Norway increasingly from the 1860s roots. Some of his recordings are dedicated to Marcus Selmer and Knud Knudsen.

His paintings were characterized by high quality. A large part of Axel Lindahl Norwegian negatives were later part of the collection of the photographer Anders Beer Wilse. Wilses photo archive in turn is now owned by the Norwegian Folk Museum in Oslo.
