Ayaz Mutallibov

Ayaz Niyazi oglu Mütəllibov (Russian Аяз Ниязович Муталибов / Ajax Nijasowitsch Mutalibov; born May 12, 1938 in Baku ) is an Azerbaijani politician. He was the last chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, and the first president of independent Azerbaijan from the Soviet Union of 18 October 1991 until 14 May 1992.

The President of the internationally unrecognized separatist and Talysh Mugan Autonomous Republic (1993 ) supported Ayaz Mütallibov after the end of his presidency, he swore by him loyalty. In general, the revolt was seen as an attempt to bring the former president again in Azerbaijan to power.

Since then, Ayaz Mütallibov is chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Azerbaijan. He lives in Moscow, Russia since 1992. His wife is Adila Mütəllibova. He has two children, Zaur and Azad.
