Azerbaijan National Independence Party

The National Independence Party of Azerbaijan ( Azerbaijani Milli Istiqlal Azərbaycan Partiyası; abbreviation AMIP ) is a conservative political party in Azerbaijan.

The National Independence Party was founded in 1992. The party chairman is Etibar Məmmədov. The party is one of the member parties of the International Democratic Union.

History

In the last national general elections on 5 November 2000 and January 7, 2001, the National Independence Party won 3.9% of the vote and thus two of the 125 seats in the National Assembly of Azerbaijan.

The party candidate for president Ehtibar Mammadov won 2.6% of the votes at the national Azerbaijani presidential elections on 15 October 2003.

Starting January of 2006 there was a large wave of resignations in the National Independence Party.
