The Humboldt is a Peruvian fisheries research ship.

History

Designed as a fishing trawler ship was on the Peruvian shipyard SIMA PERU SA built with technical and financial assistance of the German Society for Technical Cooperation. The keel-laying ceremony took place on October 13, 1978 January 3, 1977 the launching. The completion of the ship took place in 1980.

Namesake of the ship is the naturalist Alexander von Humboldt. The ship was involved in the festivities in Peru in memory of Humboldt's American expedition. On this occasion, was released in 2002, a stamp that shows next to a portrait of Humboldt's also the ship.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by two B & W diesel engines with an output of 1450 hp. For the power supply are two Deutz generators with a capacity of 388 and 188 kW. The ship is equipped with a bow thruster.

The ship has a range of up to 10,000 nautical miles. It can stay around 37 consecutive days at sea.
