Baar country is a village in the municipality Borsele in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It has 650 inhabitants ( 2005).

Two locks are detected in the Village Area: Right in the center behind the church is the former slot Baar country from the 14th century, which was destroyed during the Cosmas and Damianflut of 1477. Were spared only the moat, the foundation walls and the carriage house. The foundation walls have been restored. On the castle grounds a vast palace gardens were created, which can be visited.

Very close to the village, on the way to Oudelande are the foundations of the former medieval castle Burg Bright two brothers Hendrick and Costijn of the family of van Renesse, originally came from Renesse to Schouwen- Duiveland. They were probably closely related to Jan van Renesse, whose possessions in Zeeland in 1304 after the Battle of Zieriksee Witte van Haamstede went and fled his family members to it in other places. Until the 15th century was built on Castle Castle Bright, on his further history and its demise, nothing is handed down. Only in 1958, foundations were discovered and exposed as part of a land consolidation. Were carried out in the following years further surgical exploration. The area around the ruins is freely accessible.
