Badovinci

Badovinci ( Serbian Cyrillic Бадовинци ), with about 5,406 inhabitants, is the second largest village in Serbia and belongs to Opština Bogatić in the district Mačva.

Geography and population

Badovinci is the Opština Bogatić, in Okrug Mačva. In the village lived in the census 2002 5.406 inhabitants, while 1991 5640 inhabitants in the village lived. After the last three population statistics, the population continues to fall. The population set to 99 % Serbian Orthodox Serbs. The minorities in the village include, for example, Croats and Yugoslavs, which together account for 1 % of the population The village consists of 1510 households.

The village is located three kilometers east of the Bosnian border, which is formed here by the Drina and in the past was an important center for the black market and smuggling into Bosnia. Badovinci located southwest of the Gemeindehauptsadt Bogatić.

Characterised is the stretch of land from agriculture ( especially fruit, vegetables and livestock ). Leads through the village an important transit road from Sabac to Bijeljina, which is why a flourishing trade has ceased.

In the village are the elementary school Vuk Stefanović Karadžić and the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Trinity.
