Bagn Bygdesamling

Bagn Bygdesamling is a small open air museum south of Bagn in the Norwegian province of Sør- Aurdal. It consists of 6 buildings and was opened in 1944. The museum is now a branch of the Valdres Folke Museum.

Description

The museum consists of a courtyard, a water-powered sawmill and a school with original décor. The museum consists of 12 log cabins and a main building which is used for the permanent exhibitions. In the museum there are also two small farms from Sandviken and Bagnsbergatn. Last contains a memorial to World War II. All museum exhibits are original and from different farms in the area of the museum. The museum's permanent collection consists of finds from the Stone Age, the Iron Age finds, textile works, clothes, furniture and kitchen appliances. A large part of the collection was donated in 1941 by the local politicians Olaus Islandsmoen. The museum also has an exhibition on the composer Sigurd Islandsmoen and about the writer Mikkjel Fønhus.
