Bahamadia

Bahamadia ( Antonia Reed * 1972 in Philadelphia ) is an American rapper. It provides her with rape velvety voice and characteristic bumping in a relaxed monotone way. Bahamadia is one of the most respected female emcees.

Biography

Bahamadia started out as a DJ in her hometown of Philadelphia, where she occasionally tried his hand as MC. In such occasion, she was discovered by producer DJ Ran, who helped her in 1993 her first single radio vibe. Due to the single guru who MC of the hip-hop duo Gang Starr became aware of Bahamadia and helped her to a contract with the record label Chrysalis. There the singles Total Wreck Show ( 1994) and Uknowhowwedu (1995 ), which were praised for their relaxed rape and their jazzy appeal and well received in the scene. The first LP Kollage appeared in 1996 and was co-produced by Guru, DJ Premier and The Roots.

Because of the impending bankruptcy of Chrysalis Bahamadia waiting for the expiry of the contract and appeared as a guest on various projects, which strengthened their reputation in the scene. So was this label Push Up Ya Lighter by The Roots, New Forms by Roni Size, Good Girl Down with Morcheeba, mess with Reflection Eternal and collaborations with Sweetback, Towa Tei, Brand New Heavies, Herbalizer, Planet Asia, Jedi Mind Tricks or Army of the Pharaohs and Jazzmatazz.

In 2000, the EP BB Queen appeared (BB for beautiful black) under his own name. The next longer album was released in 2006 with the name Good Rap Music.

Bahamadia 1997-1999 has a hip-hop radio show in Philadelphia presented. It represents the trend of globalization in the hip hop culture, and thanks for example the hip hop community in Japan, Canada, Sweden, Thailand and other countries in the text of Global ( with the Sisters of the Underground from 2003 ).
