From the beach, the Bahia Honda Bridge can be seen, part of the former railway line ( Florida East Coast Railway ) between Homestead and Key West.

The rail link between Homestead and Key West was opened in 1912. In 1935, the route through the Labor Day Hurricane was badly damaged. Since the reconstruction was assessed as non- viable, the line was closed. Instead, it was started on the path to build the Overseas Highway from 1938.
