Bajo Martín

The Bajo Martín is a Comarca (administrative unit ) of the Aragon Autonomous Community in Spain. It is located in the province of Teruel and has an area of 795 km ² 7,383 inhabitants. Its capital is Híjar, the largest of the nine associated communities.

The Comarca is bordered to the west by the Campo de Belchite and Cuenca Mineras, on the north by Ribera Baja del Ebro, on the east by Bajo Aragón and Bajo Aragón - Caspe and south to Andorra -Sierra de Arcos.

The associated communities, in addition Híjar Albalate del Arzobispo, Azaila, Castelnou, Jatiel, La Puebla de Híjar, Samper de Calanda, Urrea de Gaén and Vinaceite.

The economy of the Comarca is dominated by agriculture and livestock.

The Comarca is known primarily for the Ruta del tambor y el bombo, which includes the towns of the comarca, in which take place for Niederaragonien typical pre- Easter processions drum. The cultural heritage of the comarca consists los Arcos, among others, in the Archbishop's Palace of Alba and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Late. In the Parque Cultural del Río Martín there are cave paintings. In Azalaia there is the Celtic necropolis Cabezo de Alcalá.
