Bala (Ontario)

Bala is one of Muskoka Lakes and is located in the Muskoka District Municipality of Ontario, Canada.

Formerly independent, the place came in 1971 through the merger of several smaller communities to the municipality Muskoka Lakes. Today, tourism is the main source of income. Guides provide information on the cultivation and harvesting of the many huge cranberry bogs, and cultures.

In Ontario, the place is known as Ontario's cranberry capital. Every autumn the Bala Cranberry Festival is celebrated on the weekend after Canadian Thanksgiving.
