Balthasar of Hanau-Münzenberg

Balthasar von Hanau- coins mountain ( * June 29, 1508; † December 9, 1534, in Hanau, Germany ) was a posthumous son of Count Reinhard IV of Hanau- coins Berg ( 1473-1512 ) and Countess Catherine of Schwarzburg- Blankenburg ( † 1514 ).

Balthasar was not married. He worked since 1529 as a co-guardian for his nephew, Count Philip III. of Hanau- coins mountain, whose father had died early. For the purposes of his brother, he continued to work on the city's fortifications of Hanau, which was supplemented by a mounting ring to the latest technical standard of the Renaissance.

Even Balthasar died early, as many male members of the family of Hanau- coins mountain. He was buried in the choir of St. Mary's Church in Hanau. A half-length portrait of him in stone adorned with a Hanau city gate until its demolition in the 18th century. The portrait came into the possession of the Hanau Historical Association and was destroyed in the bombing of the city of Hanau on March 19, 1945. Get them are only drawings.
